Your guide, John Macdonald, runs The Hebridean Explorer, an independent private tour business, based near Inverness, specialising in private guided tours covering the Scottish Highlands and Islands including Loch Ness, the Isle of Skye and the Outer Hebrides. We offer One Day Tours from Inverness along with Multi-Day Tours from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness.

John Macdonald, is a native of the Hebridean Island of Lewis and was raised in a Scots Gaelic speaking family. With a passion for the Scottish Highlands and particularly the Hebrides, he aims to ensure that your private tour group experience the magic of our beautiful country with the highest level of service and hospitality.

Getting “off the beaten track” and exploring the best of the region is always our aim on all our Highland and Hebridean tours. We design our tours to ensure the right balance between travelling and time spent out of the vehicle exploring and discovering the ancient and medieval history of the Highlands and Islands.
