• Is encouraged and supported by friendly, specialist teachers in a safe and structured environment
• Grows in confidence each term regardless of their current performing arts’ ability
• Develops their individuality and potential with like-minded friends
• Will have the opportunity to gain qualifications which will aid their college / university / job applications
At Stagecoach Cheddar you as a student will have fun learning how to be an actor, a singer, a dancer and make friends along the way.
As one of our students at Stagecoach you:
• Are given the chance to indulge in your passion for the performing arts
• Make lots of new, like-minded friends as learn with others of the same age
• Improve your skills with friendly, specialist teachers – plenty of games and exercises and loads of laughs
• Have the chance to perform at the end of term and at other events as well
Stagecoach Cheddar has a wide age range of students, from the rising 4 year olds to 18+ years. We welcome new students of all ages and abilities. Many join us with no previous experience and all we ask is that you are enthusiastic, keen to learn and prepared to ‘do your best’.
We train a regional choir where the best students from the South West are chosen to sing at various charity events each year. If the event is not for a charity we ask for a charity donation. Please ring 01278 788744 if interested in hiring the choir to perform at your event.
We offer optional LAMDA exams in speech and drama every year and each school is entered for Trinity Guildhall musical theatre exams every eighteen months to two years. Our 15+ students stay with us to gain various Grade 8 performing arts examinations which carry UCAS points for theatre schools and university. Each Grade 8 ‘Distinction’ carries 65 UCAS points (5 points more than AS grade A). All our students who have taken these specific exams have all gained ‘Distinction’. There are also opportunities for these students to gain professional qualifications (ie letter after your name) like ATCL musical theatre and ATCL performing arts teaching.
“When I was a child my parents never saw me, I was always playing in the street. Nowadays, children seem to play out on their own less and less. Stagecoach gives them the opportunity to be very active and creative each week while learning new skills. I have noticed how my son and his friends have gained in confidence, which has had a fantastic impact at school and at home.”
M. Haynes, parent.
“We just love Stagecoach! We learn new skills, take part in exciting performing opportunities and make loads of friends. It keeps you fit and you can have a great laugh.”
J. Nickol and other students from Stagecoach Cheddar.
