What's offered is a non-directive person centred style of counselling, so it's not about giving advice. It is an opportunity to explore feelings in real depth in a safe confidential environment where respect will be given and the client taken seriously no matter what the issue is. In doing this hopefully things will become clearer, feelings will improve and find a way forward will emerge that is best for the client.
